IELTS Writing Task 2 Template for Band 7

Template (Opinion essay)
Introduction: Paraphrase the topic + clear position.
Body 1: Main reason + specific example + explanation.
Body 2: Second reason (or counterpoint) + example + link back.
Conclusion: Restate position + one implication.
Template (Discussion essay)
Introduction: Paraphrase + mention both views + state your stance.
Body 1: View A with evidence.
Body 2: View B with evidence + your evaluation.
Conclusion: Balanced summary + final opinion.
What examiners penalize
- 1. Generic claims with no support.
- 2. Repetition of connectors without real logic.
- 3. No clear position in introduction/conclusion.
- 4. Memorized language that does not fit the topic.
