Task 2 Practice

IELTS Writing Task 2 Practice

Task 2 is worth twice as much as Task 1. Practise opinion, discussion, and problem-solution essays — then get four-criteria feedback in seconds.

Why Task 2 practice matters most

IELTS Writing Task 2 is worth twice as much as Task 1 in the final band calculation. Whether you take Academic or General Training, Task 2 is always a 250-word essay — opinion, discussion, problem-solution, or advantages-disadvantages. Most Band 6.5 candidates are held back by weak task response or thin body paragraphs, not small grammar errors.

Effective Task 2 practice means writing full essays under 40-minute timing, then checking whether your position is clear, each paragraph has one controlling idea, and examples are specific enough to support your argument. Focus on Task Response and Coherence first — they usually move your band faster than vocabulary alone.
