IELTS Writing Test — Free Online Practice with Answers

Simulate the real 60-minute IELTS Writing test. Choose Task 1 or Task 2, write under timed conditions, then check your answer with AI band feedback.

What is the IELTS Writing test?

The IELTS Writing test is a 60-minute exam module with two tasks. Task 1 asks you to describe a chart, diagram, map, or process (Academic) or write a letter (General Training). Task 2 is an essay on a social topic — the same format for both modules. Examiners score both tasks on Task Response, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range & Accuracy.

Practising with a timed IELTS writing test online helps you build exam stamina and spot timing problems before test day. After each attempt, compare your answer with Band 7–9 samples and run it through an AI checker to see which criterion is limiting your score. Repeating this loop — write, check, rewrite — is the fastest path from Band 6 to Band 7.
